Contact
Email support@chama.pro. It helps to include:
- your iOS version and the app version (Settings in the app);
- the device or converter model, and whether you use Modbus TCP or RTU over TCP;
- what you tried, what you expected and the error on screen;
- a sanitized log from Logs and Export JSON, if you have one.
Please leave out passwords, public IP addresses and production register values.
Common problems
The app can't connect
- Check that the iPhone and the device are on the same network. Guest Wi-Fi often isolates clients.
- Open iOS Settings, find the app and turn on Local Network. The app can open this screen for you.
- Check host and port. Modbus TCP uses
502by default, but many gateways use another port. - Check the device's firewall and whether it allows only a limited number of clients. Close other pollers if it allows one.
It connects, then reads time out
The TCP port is open, but nothing answers at the Modbus level. Check the Unit ID first: tap Scan Unit IDs. Then check whether the device is an RS-485 converter in transparent mode: after a timeout the app offers Try RTU over TCP, which runs one read and writes nothing.
The device answers “Illegal data address”
The device is there, but it doesn't serve the register you asked for. Check the vendor's register list and the notation: a manual that says 40001 means protocol address 0. Switch notation to PLC 4xxxx and try again with a small quantity.
The values look wrong
Two registers that should be one number point to a word order problem. Try another byte and word order in the register definition, or compare the options in the float converter.
A value off by one register means the addressing is off by one: compare 0-based and 1-based.
Setting up an RS-485 converter such as an EW11
Enter the converter's IP address and TCP port, the Unit ID of the device on RS-485, and its register range. For transparent mode, choose Framing and RTU over TCP. Pick Modbus TCP if the converter runs as a Modbus TCP gateway.
Baud rate, parity and stop bits live in the converter and have to match the device. Keep one master on the line.
Port 8899 doesn't identify the protocol. Solarman sticks with V5 can listen on the same port, and the app doesn't support them.
The server won't start
Check Local Network permission, your current network and whether another app or client holds the port. Use port 1502. iOS doesn't guarantee port 502.
Turn off crash reports or usage counts
Open Settings and turn off Share diagnostics or Product analytics. Each switch works on its own. Local logs and profiles keep working. Read the policy.
Refunds
Apple sells the app and handles refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something doesn't work, please also write to us: we fix what we can reproduce.
