Privacy Policy
Modbus TCP FieldKit is an iPhone and iPad app made by an independent developer. It needs no account. This policy covers what the app stores, what it can send and where, and what this website collects.
In short
- The app talks to the Modbus devices and clients you choose, over your own network. No server of ours sits in between.
- Profiles, register maps, request logs, monitoring history and scan results stay on your device until you export or share them.
- Crash reports go to Sentry and anonymous usage counts to our own Aptabase server. Both switches start on, and you can turn each off in Settings.
- Neither one includes hosts, IP addresses, profile names, register values or raw Modbus frames.
- We don't sell data or show ads.
Data that stays on your device
The app stores device profiles, register definitions, endpoint defaults, the server register map, bounded request logs and your settings on the device. It keeps monitoring history in memory, up to 600 points or 1 hour per value, and clears it when you close the app.
Find devices and Scan Unit IDs results stay on the device.
Exports leave only when you choose to share them. The default profile and log exports remove hosts, IP addresses, labels, notes and values. Include private details keeps them after you confirm. A CSV from Live monitoring contains register values and the profile name in its file name, and the app warns you before the share sheet opens.
Crash and error reports
Share diagnostics starts on. While it is on, the app sends crash and error reports to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.). You can turn it off in Settings, and the app then sends no reports.
A report can contain a generated diagnostics ID, the app version and build, platform, locale, time zone, the name of the failed operation, an error code and technical tags such as the Modbus exception, port and Unit ID. The app excludes hosts, IP addresses, profile names, register values, raw frames, screenshots and the view hierarchy.
Usage counts
Product analytics starts on and has its own switch. While it is on, the app sends anonymous counts to an Aptabase server we run ourselves: whether you connected and read data for the first time, which features you use, and which classes of errors get in the way. The analytics library adds the app version, the OS version and the locale.
These counts never include hosts, IP addresses, arbitrary port numbers, profile names, register addresses or values, Unit IDs, or error text. Ports appear only as the buckets 502, 1502, 8899 and other. Turn the switch off in Settings to stop new events. Events already in the queue may still finish sending.
Feedback
Send Feedback sends a message only after you tap Send. Name and email are optional. It is free-form text, so please leave out passwords, production register values and private network details. Feedback uses the same channel as diagnostics, so it is unavailable while Share diagnostics is off.
Permissions
Local Network lets the app connect to Modbus devices, search your own Wi-Fi subnet after you tap Find devices, and accept clients in server mode. You can change it in iOS Settings.
The app doesn't ask for your location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.
Purchases
Apple sells the app. We never receive your payment details.
This website
This is a static website hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect it.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure how fast pages load. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read and which buttons they press, such as the App Store badge. It sets cookies and loads after your first interaction or a few seconds after the page opens. Google's privacy policy applies to that data.
If you arrive from YouTube, the site keeps a short note about that in your browser's session storage for up to 30 minutes, so we can tell whether a video led to an App Store visit. It contains no identity and is not shared between devices.
The free browser tools run on your device. The values you type into them stay in your browser.
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply.
Children
FieldKit is an engineering tool and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices and changes
Everything the app stores lives on your device, so you can see, change or delete it there. For anything about data the app has sent, this website or your emails, write to support@chama.pro.
If we change this policy, we publish the new version on this page with a new date.
